2017 Show Wrap Up
On almost any criteria our 41st annual Art Show would have to be judged a great success with over 550 entries and over 1000 attendances. The venue at Mesley Hall worked exceptionally well and helped to consolidate our already good relationship with the Leongatha Secondary College. The food and beverage catering was top notch thanks to Marg Beck and ably assisted by many other volunteers. A major undertaking such as this requires all hands on deck and of those members and family that were present, we were not let down. Good results too, with 30 works sold and attendances close to 1000, no doubt assisted with bounce off from the Daffodil Festival. A great club effort, and once again, our club making a significant contribution to our community. It was also well received that the Shire becaame a major sponsor along with building inclusive Communities in supporting the Youth and All Abilities awards To Rtn. Harry and his committee we all extend our deserving gratitude!
A word from the Art Show Chairman
The 2016 show was an outstanding success which continued its reputation as one of the region’s and indeed Victoria’s major events.
Being its 40th year it was something special.
It was held at a new venue, Mesley Hall, which received a vast amount of compliments as a perfect venue. The Leongatha Secondary College kindly donated the venue and we look forward to continuing the show at this excellent venue.
Adding to the show’s success was holding it at the same time as the Leongatha Daffodil Festival. The entries this year totalled more than 460 and attendances over 1000 people.
The new section of All Abilities had many excellent entries as did a large contingent of youth entries.
The opening night was well attended and the judge, Shelley McDermott, did an excellent job considering the large amount of outstanding work. She received many compliments for her choices and presentation.
For this year's 41st Annual Show we are increasing the reach of the show by making it a major art event where artist’s studios, galleries, wineries and an art trail will be included. It will be an event not to miss or be part of!
The 2017 Show will be held from 1-3 September. If you wish to be kept informed keep an eye on this website or send your details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
To all those who participated or attended we thank you a lot. The success of the event means Rotary, being non for profit , can put more back into your community.
Again thank you all,
Art Show Chairman
